Kattas Figurteater Ensemble was established in Tønsberg in 2002 by Anne Helgesen. The theater has since been a workplace for both established puppet artists and a training ground for newcomers.
Kattas national and international breakthrough came with the performance Ariel (2005) based on a short story by Göran Thunström. The puppet maker Jon Mihle's series of small grotesque and comic tabletop characters was given the collective name Gray Gubber and has led to the museum program UndergroundGubber (2007), the film production Grå Gubber (2008), as well as the performances Grå Gubber plays Hamlet (2009) and Grå Gubber plays with matches (2015). In 2017 we had great success with the church play Katharina's voices and in 2019 we produced Games on the Shore which is still on our repertoire. In 2020, the performance Boss steals the show and in 2021, Newborn Andersen and Rampegutt by Anne-Cath. Vestly set up. Both of these performances are still on tour.
