by and with Anne Helgesen
Nullrikken is based on performer Anne Helgesen's childhood memories of her friendship with a grandfather who was a war sailor. The performance is about how the war continues inside the people who are affected, even after peace has come. This affects entire families for several generations. Still - loyalty, humor and righteous indignation relieve pain.
Anne 6 years is the heroine of the story. The youngest audience members get to see the world from her perspective. But the adult Anne is the narrator and the adults will probably reflect on how childhood experiences follow us through the rest of our lives.
Nullrikken is performed as a mixture of storytelling theater and games with objects and is also interspersed with furious doses of glove puppetry with the fantasy character Nullrikken. It turns out that the Jack-in-the-Box is quite similar to Pulcinella - the father of all glove puppets. The traditional Pulcinella character originates from Naples and was performed as street theater.
The production is currently in production and will premiere at Fossekleiva Kultursenter on October 6, 2024.
