Friday, May 29th, it's finally happening! Tuva Synnevåg's art book TIDEVANN will be turned into a shadow theater. We've been hatching the idea since 2023 and now we're ready. This will be a poetic, subtle and sensual experience.
TIDE – a journey in light and shadow
A little girl lives all alone on a small reef in the ocean. One day, the tide washes a mysterious book ashore – and suddenly the world opens up.
Tidevann is a wordless shadow theatre performance from Kattas Figurteater, based on the book by Tuva Synnevåg. Children and adults are taken on a journey through seas, dreams and unknown landscapes. With living shadows, music and movements, a visual experience full of wonder, excitement and warmth is created.
On her journey, the girl encounters strange creatures and traces of a world that once was. What she discovers is both beautiful and disturbing – but amidst the unknown, a small glimmer of hope.
✨ A sensual performance about curiosity, loneliness and hope.
Age: from 4 years
Location: Paper House Theatre in Tønsberg
The performance is supported by the Arts Council of Norway, the Fund for Performing Artists, Vestfold County Municipality and the Norwegian Actors' Association. It has also had a residency at the National Theatre and at La Fabrique de Théâtre Insolite in Canada through the residency program of Fossekleiva Cultural Center.
