Tidevann is an art book by animator Tuva Synnevåg. Tuva is from Tjøme and is a permanent designer and figure maker at Kattas Figurteater. In the spring of 2026, Kattas Figurteater will stage her book as a shadow play.
Preparations for the production began in the fall of 2025 with a residency at La Fabrique de Théâtre Insolite in Quebec, Canada. Director of the performance Henriette G. Kihle and composer Mila Laine from Finland participated in the residency. Musical ideas for the performance were created and construction of characters began. The residency resulted in a screening for the public at a work-in-progress festival organized by Les Sages Fous. The residency is a collaboration between Fossekleiva Cultural Center and Les Sages Fous.
The next step for the production is a two-week stay at the National Theatre in March, through the National Theatre's new program "Riksopphold". During these weeks, the director, character actors, set designer, musical team and character maker work together to try out and adjust the characters and set design.
Tidevann will be completed in April/May in Tønsberg and will premiere on May 29th at Papirhuset Teater.

TIDE
In the vast empty gap of the ocean, a little girl lives alone on a reef. One day, a book drifts in with the tide.
The book brings wonder and hope to the small island. The girl sets out on a journey in search of a place where she can belong. Along the way, she meets several strange creatures, she experiences beautiful natural landscapes, but she also gains insight into a dystopian world. In the end, the girl finds herself back on her small island – full of reflections and impressions, and perhaps not quite as lonely as before.
